The ERM Foundation ensures restoration quality in monument conservation, and its website plays a key role in providing information to professionals, governments, monument owners, and the general public. We reorganised their online presence, consolidating multiple websites into a single, cohesive platform. The site's core feature is its search function, always within easy reach on the landing page and in the fixed navigation bar at the top. We developed two distinct search tools: one for news, events, and general content, and another tailored to professionals seeking technical documentation. All technical documents were also redesigned to ensure a consistent and professional appearance throughout.

1. Research
We began by studying the website's architecture and investigating its objectives and user base. This revealed two distinct groups: professionals seeking documents and specific information, and those with a general interest in the field looking for news, events, and broader content. This distinction informed the structure of the new website, which brought together several previously separate platforms into one unified space.

2. Concept

The concept was built around the needs of these two user groups. Since the search bar is the website's most important feature and the primary way people navigate it, it immediately addresses this distinction on the homepage: users can select which group they belong to and are then directed to the appropriate search experience. The homepage also offers an overview of the content most people look for: news, events, the newsletter, and information about the organisation. The search bar itself adapts accordingly: functioning as a toolbox for professionals seeking documentation, and as a general search for everyone else.

3. Design

The design follows the website's existing branding, combining illustrations that give the site a welcoming feel with photography depicting restoration work and professionals in action. The distinction between the toolbox and public-facing sides of the website is also reflected visually: a white background is paired with rich, colourful photography, while a light pink background accompanies documentation and illustrations. Sections related to certification are presented in light blue.In this way, the website maintains a friendly and approachable tone for both user groups, while preserving a professional and polished overall feel.
